[RC]ACP Announcement Centre 1.2.5

Here my mods and history gets moved when validated and released to the phpbb.com MODDB

Re: [RC]ACP Announcement Centre 1.2.4

My board is new - i bought the domain 3-4 days ago. The style was downloaded 1-2 months back when i was searching for nice looking styles.

I'll try to update, and use the default skin first. My site errors at the moment, i installed topic preview and then uninstalled. That resulted in none of the forums being shown when clicked, and now it shows a server error. God damn rookie mistakes!

www.musclezone.dk

God damn it.

I will start over, reinstall phpbb 3. This is the third time, and this time i made all the topics and set permissions and ranks. GREAT.

BTW, no mods are shown in the .MODS section?
They are shown under AUTOMOD section where i can uninstall, install and so on.

many thanks for helping me, i'll use default style and start over - somethings is telling me that the .MODS tab is broken in some way.

tir,
The .MODS tab should not be broken. Most Mods are written for Prosilver or Subsilver2. This is one reason to be careful about the mods that you install for X-Silver. This is also the reason that I told you that you should update X-Silver to XSilver 3.0.8.2. Also on Alpha Trion's site http://www.skin-lab.com They give full credit to the original designer of the mod, update it to work for the skin, then tell you that if you have problems to speak to the original designer of the modification.

To get it to work and show the .MODS tab. go to AutoMod and next to the installed mod select "Details". Now at the bottom select the transfer from tab from Subsilver2 to X-Silver.

That is why lefty wanted you to try it in the other style format to see if it worked. The other mistake is not updating the style to the newest version.

This code shows me that you are using the old style.
Code: Select all
background-image: url("./styles/X_Silver/theme/images/board_bg.png");

Here is a link to my site with ACP AC running after lefty got it fixed for me. http://www.place4musicians.com

yes i am willing to sacrifice the guest announcements for that because its something more important that the guest because guest dont see anything unless they register

try these files instead (note: you must be on version 1.2.4)

in line 130 of includes/functions_announcement.php
Code: Select all
$extra_group = array(8);

change the 8 to the group_id to the group that you want to show the separate announcements instead.

have only tried it briefly but the group (in my case 8) will get to see the guest announcements instead.

The announcment's don't shows in my style (1BlackOut) but everything in acp is fine and works.

How can I this problem resolve?

try it on a default style first. that way you can make sure first that the mod itself works.

it worked for me (although i only tested it briefly).

I had the user in my test group (which had group id 8) and that user was seeing the guest announcement, noone else. when i set the announcement to a show to specific groups and a separate one for guests, that use saw the guest annoucnement, the other groups saw the regular one.

when i set the announcemnt to everyone, everyone saw the announcement.

well i update the version to 1.2.4
i choose the groups to saw the regular one except the group i want to see the guest one
as a guest saw the guest announcent but if that member register and logged in the announcements dont appear
maybe i do something wrong i dont know

for example 4 groups
admin,mods,members,newbies
from the acp i went to configuration and i choose show a different announcement to guest
and then from show announcement to i choose groups and i choose the admin, mods and members and i left out the newbies

i went to create a testuser to test it
i open my browser type my site url and the guest announcement appear
i create the test user and when i logged in the announcements doesnt appear for that group
i make a post and the test user transfer to the member group which the regular announcement i want to show for the admins mods and members appear

i was wondering
if we use the same way as i would have the acp link only available to admins for that specific group
it would work the same way ?
like use something like that for that group <!-- IF U_ACP -->

hello lefty
i did exactly what you did in the video you show me
well as an admin i went to the acp and at the tabs i choose .MODS
then i click on the configurations
i have show site announcement :yes
show site announcement on index :no
show different announcements to guests :yes
then show site announcements to :groups

4 groups
admin,mods members and newbies
i choose the admin mods and members. and i didnt choose the newbies
so now i open a different browser and write my website url
as a guest i see the announcement display
then i register a test user
test user become automatically newbie as a default group but to make sure i went to my other browser and choose to manage that user and i saw that the deafult group its actually newbie
then i went back and logged in with that test user
as a logged in newbie the site announcements disappear
i click on members introductions but site announcements doesn't shown
so i make a post and now this member become automatically a member of members group and site announcement are appear because this member change group and the group its selected to see the announcements

so as a logged in newbie dont see the announcements and i want this member to see the quest announcements
i want guests and newbies to be able to see the same announcements even if they logged in

Go into the ACP and on the GENERAL Tab look in the list on the left side of the page. Under the topic Board Configuration you will see User Registration Settings. Change the New Member Post Limit: to the number you desire. I set mine to 5 but you may want to set yours higher.

you must first make the file edits, then you do the install/index.php part.

did you have the announcement centre installed previously or is that a fresh install?
