Hello, I have a little problem, I've installed the mod and everything seems to work.
But as soon as I try to sent a reminder manually, nothing happens. The mails don't get sent
to the users. So it makes no sense to use it. Can you tell me how I can fix this?

do you get normally notification emails from your board when someone is replying to your post? I am asking because the mod is using the same mailing codes so I can't really see why they shouldnt' get them really...

do you see in the admin log that an email was sent?

It's really weird, if I try it using mass-mail it does work. I receive the e-mail. But when I try to
do it through the user reminder then it just doesn't work. Although it shows that i've sent a mail
in my logs.

I'm using PHPBB 3.0.8 btw

Is there any other way I can contact you? Like some kind of chat? Windows Live maybe?

tried installing this on 3.0.9 and (like some other mods which are having the same problem e.g. Sortables Captcha) I got an error message about index names being too long - so I changed the names in install/index.php from e.g. user_reminder_fieldname to user_fieldname and it installed just fine (I figured that index name changes are probably not going to break the mod as they are for performance).

I did take a look at the db_tools in phpbb 3.0.8 and 3.0.9 and cold not see what has changed to stop this mod working.

I tried to upload the fix for reference, but couldn't figure out what file extensions were allowed on this board (not php or txt) - sorry.

Rgds, P

hi, just changing this in the installer won't help.

anyway, i have not had a chance to look at 3.0.9 yet. I will try to do this asap but I am afraid I do not know when I will be able to do that.

Heiko, thank you for this very useful modification.

It works perfectly on PHPBB 3.0.10! After sending a few reminder e-mails I saw many inactive members return (84 !!!) in less than 20 hours after sending the mails. This mod is really a godsend!

During the installation I encountered the following error in the database to a known problem.
Algemene fout
Index name 'phpbb_users_user_reminder_inactive' on table 'phpbb_users' is too long. The maximum is 30 characters.

I found your solution

by lefty » Sat Sep 10, 2011 1:28 pm

hi, yes, the problem is that with upgrading to 3.0.9 the db_tools.php doesn't allow db fields longer than 24 chars.

if you really want to use that mod, you could change in includes/db/db_tools.php

line 1414, change 30 to 130 = if (strlen($column_name) > 130)
line 2060, change 24 to 124 = if (strlen($table_name . $index_name) - strlen($table_prefix) > 124)
line 2097, change 24 to 124 = if (strlen($table_name . $index_name) - strlen($table_prefix) > 124)

then run the install file

make sure after the install file ran to change these values back to their original numbers.

In PHPBB 3.0.10 I found the lines in the following locations

  • line 1414 must be line 1454
  • line 2060 must be line 2108
  • line 2097 must be line 2138

After this I could be running the install file and the modification worked perfectly.

I want to offend anyone, but the Dutch translation contained quite a few writing flaws. I've changed it a bit. :write:

For those who want to use the Dutch translation, which can be downloaded below. I put a section in the Dutch mails in English.

Thanks again! And it's pity that you are no longer active in the modification world. :newcry2:

Hi Blackwolf, some of the code used by this mod must have changed in 3.0.10. I would recommend to actually use the actual the url to your board instead of the {U_BOARD} variable into your message for now until a developer has been found who would like to take over this mod for further development or until i get back into coding (which unfortunately seems unlikely at this point in time :()

Love causing issues for myself...... :embarrassed:

Removed & reinstalled.....Not under the Mods tab

How do I add the Main module back, I can see its children....??...the dark line ,marked User Managment [acp_uses] in not clickable....

module.png

SOLVED
Go to ACP > System > Module Management : Administration Control Panel
This will bring you to the list of top level categories for the ACP. (i.e. the Tabs)
To add a new tab, simply type in the Tab name you want to use for the tab in the lower left-hand input field, and click Create New Module.

Then added the sub cats.

For some reason though, when I add my email for the logs to be sent, get the green success window...but the boxes are unticked & the email field (that I filled in ) is empty....is this normal?

I'd do a total uninstall go through the DB too to axe anything leftover and axe any files related to this mod. Then reinstall. It works on my system fine.

Reluctant to uninstall due to this small bug on my forum...... I had to add a fix to it also.

please upgrade to the latest version, the previous version had a little bug that it did not save the selection of tick boxes.

viewtopic.php?p=2794#p2794

I am running 1.05......how to remove from the database? :embarrassed:

If I can manage that, I'll remove & reinstall......seems like I might have a mix of 1.01 & 1.05

If you have a SEO mod installed, this should be turned off during installation as otherwise the install file may not work.

How to "turn off"?

When I did try to "update" I got...

Code: Select all
Index name 'phpbb_users_user_reminder_inactive' on table 'phpbb_users' is too long. The maximum is 30 characters.

SOLVED THE UPDATE DILEMA.... :cheer: here

lg heiko

Uli. I'm ok with having to wait until you have time. There is life before MODS. You've been a great host and have stood by your products even under stressful times.

Many thanks for all you have done and will do in the future.

Hope your knee is doing well!!
